Broach
After looking at the pattern a while, I decided to do this broach, or is it brooch. Hmmm, let's call it a pin. I went to my local bead store and asked for tiny pearls and bought these @ $3. a strand using 2 strands. I think it's a lovely pearl color. The thread is Altin Basak. It's from the Japanese book Tatting Lace but I couldn't find the name of the author.
It tats up in a spiral and forms 3 layers plus the center.

This is lovely. Thanks for the dangle photo so we could see more clearly how it was made. I just love the pink and white combination. I have not tatted with Altin Basik, YET! I've heard so much about it and I feel myself getting "curiouser and curiouser" about it, LOL! Yes, it is spelled "brooch" and pronounced "broach". Isn't the English language fickle at times? Thank you for sharing.

I love it! The pearls look so dainty. I also like using Altin Basak thread. Will have to look that book up.

Terry, the brooch is exquisite and I'm not a "pink" person!

Oh...I just started this very pattern last week before I left for the cruise but ran out of time! However, I did take the book with me and tatted the other motif next to it with the long picots....do you have any idea what it is? It looks like 2 layers but I can't figure out what it is supposed to be. I actually bought the book for that pattern alone - I was intrigued by it. Looks almost like a little box of sorts.

Oh Terry, That is so pretty. I especially like the tiny pearls. I to like AB thread; EXCEPT for the sort with the metallics in them.
If one tats tightly, the metallic breaks and bunches up. But I like all the Atin Basak colors in the regular threads. I like OB mixed with something else for metallic.
Now That I can accomplish an SCMR, I'll be able to tat Angelica! yea!
